Subject Verb Agreement
A singular subject needs a verb in the singular form, and a plural subject needs a verb in the plural form. Here are some basic examples of subject / verb agreement:
Singular Subject & Singular Verb
- The student goes to the library after school.
 
Plural Subject & Plural Verb
- The students do their homework together in the evening.

Indefinite pronouns are singular, so they need a singular form verb:
- Everyone in the town helps clean up after the street party.
 - One of the people I met was a musician.
 - Neither of the songs is my favorite.
